There is nothing wrong with that. The Camry is an awesome car. Not quite as sporty as the previous generation (especially the ES300), but still good tho.

If you have the 15-inch wheels, Falken makes some really high performance tires in that size :)

I kinda want a Camry of that vintage, I need a good comfortable and reliable car for college.

This....with a manual transmission and a v6.

I’m sure there are some TRD parts waiting for you.

5-speed is a yes, but only the 4-banger. 35 MPG is worth it I think.

What I'm really trying to find are the TRD chassis brace-stiffener things. Not a ton of luck but there's alternatives.

Find a manual. Seriously. Gas mileage is much better.

500k mile engines if taken care of, and I packed a TON of shit in mine for college.

I really really wanted a two-door V6 from the previous Gen, but my parents bought this when it was new. Free cars are the best cars

That is a neg, ghost-rider. A buddy of mine used to have a manual LE V6.

T’was fun getting on Integras.

Not mine but I also have a 4-banger 4th gen Camry.

Kinja'd!!!

I do have a TRD axle-back exhaust though.

That is what TRD superchargers are for!

Do they still make that or nah?

They make one specifically for the Camry?

That was the idea! Montana winters are pretty nasty

I want to say yes. Look into it. I know they had swaybars etc. for that specific year model of Camry.

Edit: I think it may have been for the Toyota Solara, which is based on the Camry platform.

I know they did the swaybars, as well as a short throw shifter and other small stuff. I'll look into that

I would upgrade the swaybars and get some OE Sports Springs (like H&R OE replacement/sport springs).

That way you get soft ride but can have much handles, brah.

My old Camry is the same color as that. I really did appreciate that car when I was driving it but can't bring myself to drive it anymore. Only now with my Mazda do I realize how bad it drives. But it did always have a willing engine when I would gun it for the on ramps.

Nobody makes anything for that gen Camry anymore. The previous owner found the exhaust on Craiglist. Actually, I think it was for the Solara but it fit perfectly.

Also, if you’re planning on lowering the Camry, don’t go too low. Previous owner had Tein S-Tech springs and Tokico blue struts and the frame was scraping and bottoming out everywhere.

They made a supercharger for the V6, I was looking into it for mine (98 V6 5-speed) when I had it. They are no longer produced new, and used ones, when they come up, sell for around $2500 complete.

After driving my 6s for a year I see where you're coming from. The fact of the matter is though my car feels pretty tight with 200k+ miles on it, and my Mazda rattled itself to shit every time I did anything.

Kinja'd!!! Ryanator122 > RiceRocketeer Extraordinaire
12/23/2015 at 14:46

I don't think I would lower it much, otherwise I'd have to make the ride unbareable. It already scrapes on low dips and reasonable speed bumps.

That is freaking insane. I have also heard that the 4-cylinder doesn’t like to be tuned.. At all. The ECU reverts back to default when it detects something amiss. This is a problem, since it’s registered in the People’s Republic of California.

Probably counts me out for that exhaust too

Shocks and springs are next. I’m upgrading as I do maintenance that way I don’t feel like I’m wasting as much money.

What I SHOULD have done is bought bigger steelies and got the Highlander brake and caliper set-up (direct bolt-up to existing hubs) but money.

Keep looking dude. The Gen previous wasn't too bad either, and they share a ton of parts so upgrading to newer/nicer stuff shouldn't be too hard

Whoops. One of the reasons I got rid of mine was the lack of modifications available. That, and the blown out clutch, exhaust, overdue timing belt, and 240k+ miles.

I managed to grenade my engine a couple years ago. 10 years of abuse when cold led to a burning problem that I didn’t keep in check. This allowed me to put in an Exedy Stage 2 clutch when I got my new engine though

That's true. The Camry is not doing to bad considering the almost 300k miles.
